26 High Court Judges to Hear 118 Election Petitions
The Hon. Principal Judge, Hon. Dr. Yorakamu Bamwine
The\r\nJudiciary compiled and cause-listed at least 118 parliamentary election\r\npetitions to be heard in the 13 different High Court circuits across the\r\ncountry. The Hon. Principal Judge appointed 26 High Court Judges to hear the\r\nelection petitions. The hearing of these petitions will be held between May and\r\nJune, 2016.

Notable\r\namong these election petitions are Mr. Stephen Sekigozi Vs Mr. Peter Sematimba\r\nfor the Busiro South seat, Mr Daniel Joseph Ibaale Vs Mr. Abdu Katuntu, Energy\r\nminister Mrs. Irene Muloni who lost the Bulambuli District Woman MP seat to Ms\r\nSarah Wekomba, FDC’s Mr. Geofrey Ekanya Vs Ms. Annet Nyaketcho and Mr. Sitenda\r\nSebalu Vs the Electoral Commission.

Hearing\r\nof petitions will be given priority over other cases and the High Court has\r\nthree months in which to dispose them off. Those who will be dissatisfied can\r\nappeal to the Court of Appeal which is the last court to decide Parliamentary\r\nelection petitions according to the amended electoral laws in the constitution.
